Seminars for Almoners and Stewards of Charities

In October 2012 representatives of the Northern Provinces were invited to a seminar in Belfast for a presentation by Grand Lodge aimed at improving support for Almoners and Stewards of Charities. Following this each Provincial Grand Lodge was asked to arrange seminars for their local Charity Committees to which all Lodge Almoners and Stewards of Charity would be invited.

In PGL Tyrone and Fermanagh seminars were arranged for the Dungannon, Enniskillen and Omagh Local Charity Committees. The photograph shows those who attended the seminar in Enniskillen. The seminars were delivered by Provincial Grand Almoner, W Bro Jim McBain and Provincial Grand Steward of Charities, W Bro Leslie Nixon. At each seminar those who attended viewed the power point presentation, a copy of which can be downloaded from the link below.

One of the topics discussed at these seminars was the annual census of masonic widows. It was explained that the Provincial Grand Lodge wished to retain and maintain its own record of masonic widows in Tyrone and Fermanagh and to this end would request Lodges to check the local database at the same time as making their annual return to Grand Lodge.
